Where did you go to school? What did your FOX Sports U project involve? Did it change what career path you want to pursue after you graduate?

I went to University of Southern California; Marshall School of Business. My Marketing class was tasked  with coming up with a campaign to blowout the month of April at FOX Sports West for our FOX Sports U project. With the NHL and NBA Playoffs and the return of the MLB, April is an exciting month in LA. While I always knew I wanted to work in the sports industry I wasn’t sure as to what extent. Getting hands on experience my senior year in college with the FOX Sports West Marketing team was so valuable. It helped me picture myself working in an environment like that.

What is the most interesting thing you have learned so far in your role?

As a Marketing Coordinator at FOX Sport West, I’ve learned more than I can even put in words. From Social Media, to On-Air Promo, to Communications – I’ve been exposed to so much. I’ve also learned that there’s no such thing as a “boring” day. Everything is constantly changing and topical. Multi-tasking is key!

What was the most important lesson/skill you learned in working with Fox Sports University?

While working with FOX Sports University, I gained the ability of learning when to lead and when to follow. Working with different personalities is challenging but this project helped me confront that head on.

What advice would you give students your age looking to land an internship or full-time job at a place like FOX?

Network, network, network! Be proactive and always aware of the connections you might make.

What is the best project you’ve worked on so far?

I really enjoyed working on our Ducks Social campaign with the Anaheim Ducks. I was able to help execute that event two years in a row, once while I was interning at FOX Sports West, and again once I came on-board full-time. Seeing that campaign evolve and grow was very rewarding.
